The car seat is convertible, in that it can be configured as rear or front facing.  It is a high capacity convertible car seat that can accommodate your child from baby to toddler stages with a 5 to 65 lb. weight range.  It comes in a variety of fabric options.

• Child weight limit: 65 lbs. (rear-facing: 5-35 lbs.; forward-facing: 20-65 lbs.)
• Height range: 18 – 49 in.
• Seated shoulder height: 10.5-16 in. (rear-facing); 12-16 in. (forward-facing)
• Infant body pillow
• 5-point harness, with rubber chest pads and harness holders
• Front harness adjuster to loosen the harness system
• Latch connectors for a quick, simple, and tight installation
• Tether webbing  anchors and Side impact protection for safety
• No Re-thread harness adjustment

Pros:

• Broad child weight range of 5-65 lbs.
• Very comfortable for baby or toddler.
• Thick straps do not twist.
• Allows you to adjust the harness height without having to re-thread the harness strap.
• Side impact safety design (EPS foam in the head support is that used in bicycle helmets).
• Latch connectors allow quick, easy and tight installation (LATCH is on most car models after Sept. 2002).
• Well made and attractive.

Cons:

• Fairly large (Approx. 28 x 25x 20), make sure to check dimensions against your vehicle.  Some have found leg room issue when rear facing.
• Harness is a bit difficult to adjust.
• Crotch strap is short, and falls under the baby or toddler while seating.

The Britax Chaperone Infant Car Seat is a rear-facing only car seat that includes a car seat carrier and a base.  The car seat is designed for an infant from 4 to 30 lbs., and 32” or less in height.  It is stroller compatible with Britax Chaperone strollers and other major stroller brands when use with the Britax adapter strap.

• Infant weight /size: 4 -30 lbs. and 32” or less

Pros:

• The no re-thread head restraint and harness shoulder height adjustment is a very nice feature to have in an infant car seat.
• It is “click” lock compatible with the Britax Chaperone stroller (also strap-in compatible with some other strollers).
• Comfortable for baby.

Cons:

• The infant carrier is fairly heavy at 10 lbs., and for most becomes very difficult to lift via handle by the time your child is ~20 lbs, so you may lose use of the carrier feature at that time (this is rated to 30 lbs.).  This is not so much a con, as a note of consideration.
• Fairly large, some users have problems fitting this in their cars due to the depth.  Again, this not so much a con, as a consideration in purchase.

• Compact design means that your child may possibly grow out of this car seat early, requiring you to purchase another car seat (this is not so much a con, as a consideration of purchase based on financial situation, and your vehicle seating area, since some larger car seats now accommodate children up to 65 lbs.).
• Requires re-threading the shoulder harness positions as your child grows.
• Fabric cover is not machine washable.
• Doesn’t have multiple adjustable crotch strap positions (6.63 set depth).
